My Story

You can read the official bits below but I wanted to add my own bit to this. A little while ago, I raised money for The Trussell Trust by completing the worlds hottest curry challenge. I was very pleased at how many of you got involved, watching the live streams and donating to the cause. The Trussell Trust remains a charity very close to my heart, because people are still struggling to feed themselves and their families and I strongly feel that this is something that nobody should go through. Adequate food and nourishment should be a basic human right, not something that people have to choose as an option over heating their home or feeding other family members. This time I'll be running 5k (maybe more, we will see!) and once again, asking any of you that are able, to donate to this very worthy charity.

Here is the official story from the charity itself, which includes some important (and heartbreaking) facts and figures:

On Saturday 1 April, thousands of Trussell Trust supporters all around the UK will run the Race Against Hunger 5K and I AM ONE OF THEM!

Why is it so important to Race Against Hunger?
Between 1 April 2022 and 30 September 2022, food banks in the Trussell Trust's UK-wide network distributed 1.3 million food parcels to people facing hardship - this is an increase of 52% compared to the same period in 2019. Half a million of these parcels were distributed to children. This isn't right. Everyone should be able to afford the essentials and put food on the table.

The Trussell Trust supports a nationwide network of more than 1,300 food bank centres, providing emergency food and support to people locked in poverty, as well as working to challenge the structural issues that force people to use food banks. No one should have to suffer the indignity of relying on emergency food and the Trussell Trust knows that together, we can build a future where everyone can afford the essentials.
